DanielDANIEL 9:27 (THE PLAYERS, THE ALLIANCES, AND HOW IT UNFOLDS)

Daniel 9:27 is not an isolated verse. It sits inside a prophetic structure that identifies the timeline, the central nation, the coming ruler, the regional powers, and the final global alignment.

“Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city.” Daniel 9:24

The prophecy concerns Israel and Jerusalem specifically. Not the Church. Not a symbolic abstraction. A nation and a city.

Sixty-nine weeks run to Messiah. He is cut off. Jerusalem is destroyed. That happened in 70 AD. But the seventieth week remains.

Daniel 9:27 says:

“He shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease…”

This verse introduces the final seven-year period.. The Tribulation.

Let’s identify every major player Scripture reveals.

ISRAEL:

Israel is the center of gravity. The covenant is confirmed with “many,” but it is tied to Israel’s security and worship. Sacrifices cannot be stopped unless they are functioning. That implies a temple system operating again in Jerusalem.

The conflict of the final week revolves around Israel’s land, city, and covenant identity.

THE PRINCE THAT SHALL COME:

Daniel 9:26 speaks of “the people of the prince that shall come” who destroyed Jerusalem. Historically, Rome destroyed the city. The coming ruler emerges from that legacy power structure.

This is the same figure described in:

Daniel 7 - the little horn. 2 Thessalonians 2 - the man of sin. Revelation 13 - the Beast.

He does not begin as a tyrant. He begins as a diplomat. He strengthens or enforces a covenant for seven years. That covenant likely involves multiple parties.. “with many.”

If this unfolded today, it would look like a multinational agreement involving Israel and regional or global actors. Security guarantees. Recognition frameworks. Possibly authorization for temple worship.

For three and a half years, the arrangement holds.

Then the midpoint.

“In the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and oblation to cease.”

Paul says this ruler enters the temple and exalts himself as God. Jesus calls it the “abomination of desolation.”

The peace broker becomes the desecrator.

That is the turning point of the Tribulation.

THE NORTHERN COALITION: EZEKIEL 38–39

Ezekiel describes a coalition led by Gog from the land of Magog, joined by Persia and other regions north of Israel.

Persia is historically modern Iran.

Many associate the northern regions with powers historically linked to what is now Russia and surrounding territories, though Scripture names ancient regions, not modern flags.

This coalition invades Israel and is supernaturally judged by God.

Some place this before the seventieth week. Others early within it. But it involves a northern-led alliance targeting Israel directly.

THE KING OF THE SOUTH AND KING OF THE NORTH: DANIEL 11

Daniel 11 shows ongoing regional tension involving southern and northern powers relative to Israel.

Historically these were Egypt and Syria. In the end-time section of Daniel 11, those titles represent real regional actors pushing against the final ruler.

This shows that Middle Eastern powers remain active participants in the conflict.

THE KINGS OF THE EAST: REVELATION 16

Revelation describes armies from the east crossing the Euphrates toward the final confrontation.

This introduces a major eastern bloc.

By the end of the seven years, the conflict is no longer regional. It is global.

ALL NATIONS GATHERED:

Zechariah 14 states plainly that all nations will be gathered against Jerusalem.

Revelation 16–19 describes demonic deception gathering the kings of the earth to Armageddon.

The progression is clear:

Covenant. Temple. Midpoint desecration. Global alignment. Final confrontation. Return of Christ.

CURRENT MODERN ALIGNMENTS:

As of today, Israel maintains strong strategic ties with the United States and cooperation with countries like India and several normalization partners in the Middle East.

Hostile actors include Iran and proxy groups such as Hezbollah and Hamas.

Powers like China and Turkey remain strategic wildcards with shifting influence in the region.

But prophecy does not depend on today’s headlines staying fixed. Alliances shift. Scripture’s structure does not.

HOW IT UNFOLDS:

If Daniel 9:27 begins in our generation, it will not start with obvious apocalypse. It will begin with diplomacy.

A leader emerges. A covenant is strengthened. Temple worship resumes. Three and a half years pass. The betrayal happens. Sacrifice stops. The ruler exalts himself. Regional coalitions mobilize. Eastern armies advance. All nations converge. Judgment is poured out. Christ returns.

This is not speculative fiction. It is textual progression drawn from Daniel, Ezekiel, Zechariah, Matthew 24, 2 Thessalonians 2, and Revelation.

Israel remains the epicenter. Jerusalem remains the focal point. The covenant triggers
